In 2014
The Virginia Community Health Worker Association (VACHWA) was founded in 2014. The original board designed the organization’s infrastructure, and a team of succession board members carried over the vision.
In 2018
VACHWA conducted its first strategic planning and received its first grant from the Richmond Memorial Foundation, marking just a few of the many milestones achieved in two years of growth.
In 2020
VACHWA won two state health grants, gained key partners’ backing, and achieved 501(c)(3) status.
In 2024-2025
VACHWA applied and received the largest grant in the history of the Association through the Jeffress Foundation (HRi).
