THE TEAM
The association’s team is divided into two groups: the staff and the board. The staff is responsible for the day-to-day operations, including managing the association’s programs, providing support to community health workers (CHWs), and addressing any concerns or issues that arise. On the other hand, the board oversees the association’s overall direction, including its strategic planning and financial management. In tandem, these two groups work closely together to meet the needs of the CHWs and ensure that the association is fulfilling its mission and goals. This collaborative effort helps to lift up the association and make reaching its objectives more achievable.

Stephanie Carrington
President
Background: A Richmond, Virginia native and certified community health worker, Stephanie is leading her team at the Richmond City Health District while also serving on many other community boards.

Background: A seasoned health and fitness professional with extensive experience in community health programs, serving as the Executive Director at the John Rolfe YMCA. William advocates for health equity and stays active himself.

Katelyn Schifano
Secretary
Background: Katelyn Schifano, MS, CHES, is a Richmond City resident with over 13 years of health education experience. Her expertise is in community engagement in research. She works at Massey Cancer Center to help connect the community and researchers to work together to achieve shared goals.

Lydia English
Co-Treasurer
Background: A master’s degree holder from Madrid. Lydia is a dedicated advocate who works with immigrants, providing information and resources to help them adapt. Her focus is on education, outreach, and partnerships.

Background: An Afro-Latina community leader, Shanteny’s lived experiences coupled with her academic background have been pivotal in her professional development.
